Description

The Japanese Cotton Denim Maquignon Jacket by De Bonne Facture is inspired by a studio portrait of the Dutch painter Corneille, a co-founder of the Cobra modern artistic movement originating in the late 1940's known for redefining western pictorial norms and the use of vivid colors. With a focus on sustainability through natural fibers and production techniques that connect the garment to the landscape, this Maquignon Jacket is made from an 11.4 oz. Japanese Selvedge Denim in 100% Cotton with contrasting thread for a workwear palette. To create a vintage aesthetic with a pure provenance, De Bonne Facture used this indigo dyed denim and gave it a one-wash and dry treatment to limit crocking, provide immediate comfort, enable the fabric to break-in and form to the body, and allow the denim to develop a natural, unique patina when worn as hard as intended. With a minimalist design approach inspired by vintage fashion, each element carries thematic consistency and purpose with details like set-in sleeves for a classic silhouette, patch front chest and slanted lower hand pockets, an interior chest pocket for devices and keepsakes, and high character genuine horn buttons utilized on the front placket and cuffs. Paying homage to the original jacket of eastern French horse traders, this piece is atelier made in Paris by outerwear specialist Brocaud, providing the soul of fine regional craftsmanship; which, combined with the authenticity of fully traceable natural materials, yields an artisan piece for the timeless wardrobe of the contemporary fashion connoisseur. Featuring premium materials and production with an historic approach to a forward-focused look, the Japanese Denim Cotton Denim Maquignon Jacket will add polished execution to any casual luxury ensemble for the office, event, or excursion.
