Freemans Sporting Club has been a representation of New York culture with a focus on local, American-made goods since 2004. Founder Taavo Somer began the brand as a private studio focused on collecting deadstock fabrics from merchants in the Lower East Side of Manhattan and crafting bespoke suits for a select group of friends and clients. This practice of sourcing specialty materials and working with local artisans started as a necessity and grew into a brand tradition. As the brand has evolved over several heritage cycles, FSC has maintained their approach of integrating classic tailoring, traditional craftsmanship, and modern style to reflect the heart and soul of New York art, music, and street culture. As a classic American brand that embodies the high-toned grit of the city, Freemans Sporting Club takes pride in manufacturing most of their products within 10 miles of their Lower East Side flagship in the storied factories of Manhattan’s garment district.
